Jennifer Cooke is an Anglo-Italian art historian based in Norwich (UK). She earned a BA in Science of Cultural Heritage, an MA in History of Art, and a PhD in History of Art Criticism. A former Postdoctoral Fellow (2016-18) and Research Fellow (2019-22) at the University of Turin (Italy), she is now an independent art scholar and lecturer. Her research interests lie in methodologies, exhibiting practices, interpretation, and communication of works of art. Some of the topics explored in her publications and conference papers include American art scholarship and its relations with Europe, CIHA international art congresses, iconology, the social history of art, cultural migration, visual and world art studies, the connection between publishing and the history of art, and life-writing. She is the author of the monograph Millard Meiss, American Art History, and Conservation. From Connoisseurship to Iconology and Kulturgeschichte (New York: Routledge, 2021) and has recently co-edited the volume Nello specchio della scrittura. Autobiografia e storia dell’arte tra Otto e Novecento (Rome: Carocci, 2024).
